Location

The Clark Planetarium is located inside the Advanced Technology Center (ATC 124) on the Shawnee State University campus. Students may be dropped off on the East side of the building and buses may then be parked in the adjoining parking lot. School groups must enter the east door and wait in the lobby by the Aristech Pendulum for seating in the planetarium.

Parking/Drop Off

Due to the current construction on and around the Advanced Technology Center, we have a new set of drop-off instructions for schools and buses.  The SSU Student Activities and Housing department has recommended these instructions.  Should anyone have problems with them, please let us know so that we may revise and improve our instructions for the future.

Option One: Drop Students off behind the Advanced Technology Center (the building in which the planetarium is located).  Buses may also pull up beside the ATC to the western entrance, but this will require security to help the busses back out again, as there is no turn around.  Option one is best for schools with several disabled students.

Option Two: Drop students off at the main university drop-off area by the upper parking lot (shortly after turning at the stop light).  This drop-off area has room for one school bus at a time and provides direct walking paths to the ATC.

Option Three: School buses may also drop students off at the roundabout in front of the Vern Riffe Center for the Fine Arts.  Students will have to walk across campus to reach the Clark Planetarium, but this provides for more than one bus at a time to drop students off.

Parking: We recommend parking in the lot at the corner of Fourth Street and Waller.  Should this parking lot not suit your needs, please feel free to try parking in the back corner of the lower parking lot near the levy.  Also, you may consider parking on the street near the university.  We are currently working on a more acceptable parking solution for buses, but at this time, these are the best locations.
